We raise our own herd of colored Angora goats on mountain pastures in Idaho, where they produce exceptionally silky, lustrous mohair. We blend this with domestic colored merino wool to create a naturally soft, breathable, and luxurious fabric.
Most mohair throws on the market are imported and made with brushed mohair yarn and an open weave, resulting in delicate blankets that shed.
At Caprine, we’ve made something different. Partnering with America’s oldest woolen mill, we bring New England craftsmanship and heritage to every throw.
Woven with time-honored techniques and our own mohair, this soft, long-lasting piece is as functional as it is beautiful.

I absolutely LOVE my mohair throw🥰 I was hesitant to spend the money but I am so happy I did! It is sooo soft and warm and just perfect! My only problem now is wanting to purchase another one! I snuggle up in it every morning and on chilly evenings because it is so comfy! I highly recommend getting one for yourself💜

Lovely heirloom blanket with a beautiful weave and trim work. Just enough loft but not too heavy. Love to invest in a quality blanket sourced from a small US farm and crafted in the US. This will last generations.
I live my throw. Using the website (clear and easy to navigate), choosing (great photos), ordering (easy), and receiving (less than a week later) was smooth and quick. My emailed question was answered swiftly. The weather got cold again so I could snuggle in comfort!

Not only is this throw beautiful, adding class to my living room decor, but it is sooo practical. With its mohair and antibacterial merino wool, it's warm yet breathable (you won't have to kick it off because you get too hot!), and you will rarely have to clean it. I love that my toes don't get sore from my old heavy lap blanket, too. The natural colors of the fibers are soothing and lovely. . . bonus!
Hi Caprine team! My dad just came to visit us in Priest River while Mom held down the fort at Quartz Lake, just outside of Delta Junction, AK. We picked her out a blanket at Northwest Handmade and it just travelled the AlCan highway to get back to her.
