WHERE WE GROW

RED FALCON RANCH

Nestled in the far north of Idaho, Red Falcon Ranch is surrounded by mountain ranges, clear air, and the steady rhythm of the seasons. It’s here that our herd of Angora goats graze and grow the luxurious mohair at the heart of Caprine.

We live in close connection with the land, guided by respect for the animals and the nature that sustains us. Raising goats and growing mohair is both a craft and a calling — an art form rooted in care, patience, and the pursuit of balance.

Every fleece begins with the health of the herd and the vitality of the pastures beneath their hooves. This is where our story begins: with a deep love for the land, a commitment to ethical stewardship, and the quiet beauty of mohair — a natural fiber that has endured and inspired for millennia.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

HOW WE GROW

At Red Falcon Ranch, everything begins with respect for the land, for the animals, and for the rhythm of nature that guides us. Our philosophy is rooted in ethical stewardship and the belief that true sustainability comes from balance and care.

We practice holistic ranching, from thoughtful pasture management to gentle shearing and mindful herd care. Nothing here is wasted — the manure and straw from the barns are composted to enrich our pastures and gardens, and even the smallest bits of mohair are returned to the soil as mulch. Each cycle nurtures the next, creating a living system that supports both the earth and the animals who depend on it.

Our herd is raised with patience and compassion. Kids remain with their mothers as long as they need, and doelings spend their first year by their mama’s side. Shearing is calm and unrushed, a quiet partnership built on trust.

We celebrate the natural colors of mohair, letting nature define the palette of our work. Every hue — from warm chestnut and soft silver to deep ebony and winter white — is a reflection of the individuality within our herd and the land they graze.

Through the seasons, the rhythm of Red Falcon Ranch remains constant with harmony between people, animals, and place. It’s this balance that allows us to grow something truly beautiful: mohair that carries the warmth of the sun, the purity of the mountain air, and the quiet story of where it came from.

OUR ETHOS

At Caprine, we believe there is a place in every home for natural fibers — for things made with intention, care, and respect for where they come from. What we wear and surround ourselves with matters. How and where it is made matters.

Life moves slowly here at Red Falcon Ranch, and that rhythm is reflected in our land, our goats, and the mohair we grow. Each season reminds us that beauty takes time — that tending, growing, and crafting are acts of patience and purpose.

We believe in thoughtful stewardship of the earth, in supporting our community, and in living gently within the natural world. Surrounding ourselves with materials that honor nature brings a sense of calm and wellbeing to our daily lives — beginning with what we choose to wear and what we welcome into our homes.

We raise our Angora goats with care so that the mohair they grow remains pure, strong, and naturally beautiful. From pasture to product, every step reflects our belief that what’s healthy for the land and animals is healthy for all of us.

FOUNDERS

WHO WE ARE

We are a mother-and-daughter trio — Angela, Rachel, and Sarah — the hands and hearts behind Caprine at Red Falcon Ranch. Together, we tend our herd of Angora goats and create the soft, luxurious mohair pieces that reflect both the beauty of the fiber and the place it comes from.

Our work is guided by a shared passion for craftsmanship, animal welfare, and sustainable living. We care deeply about the health of our land and our herd, striving to leave a light footprint while creating something lasting and meaningful for future generations.

Each of us brings our own gifts to the work — from photography and design to ranch management, horticulture, and the simple joy of working outdoors. What unites us is a love of the rhythm of ranch life, the connection to our animals, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from creating with purpose.

In the end, we are shepherds, makers, and storytellers — devoted to honoring the land, our goats, and the timeless beauty of mohair.

HOW WE CREATE

OUR PROCESS

As growers and makers, everything we create begins with the goats themselves. Producing exceptional mohair starts long before shearing day -  it begins with the daily care, attention, and gentle handling that ensure our Angora goats are healthy, calm, and thriving. We shear in-house, in a low-stress environment, honoring the trust we’ve built with each animal.

Once sheared, the mohair is sorted by hand and graded by color and micron. Our finest, softest mohair travels to the East Coast, where it is washed and blended with merino from the rocky mountains and then spun into yarn. From there, it’s knit into socks or woven into throws and returned to the ranch.

We choose to work with small family mills that share our values… people who care about craftsmanship and take pride in making things that last. Keeping our socks and throws made in America isn’t just a decision about quality; it’s a commitment to community, transparency, and the belief that good things are worth creating close to home.

Everything we make is small batch.

Good things take time.
