What is Mohair?

Mohair is luxurious silky ringlets produced by Angora goats. This regenerative natural fiber is ethically shorn twice a year. Mohair features natural fiber properties such as moisture wicking, odor controlling, and temperature regulating.

Mohair is one of the softest, silkiest, lustrous, and strongest natural fibers on the planet.

It is not produced by angora rabbits, cashmere goats, or sheep.

Why use Mohair?

Mohair is a luxury natural fiber that enhances everything you know and love about wool by adding natural luster and silky softness.

Say hello to itch-free natural comfort!

What makes your Mohair socks different?

We blend silky-soft mohair with merino wool, eliminating the itch often associated with wool socks.

Whether you're out for a morning walk or tackling your to-do list, these socks provide an enjoyable, all-day wear experience.

What makes your Mohair blankets different?

Most mohair throws are imported and made with brushed mohair yarn and an open weave, resulting in a delicate blanket that sheds.

Here at Caprine, we have made a different kind of mohair throw. Partnering with America's oldest woolen mill, we bring New England craftsmanship and heritage to our throws.

Woven with authentic, time-honored methods and our own mohair, this soft, long-lasting throw is as functional as it is beautiful.

Where do you source your fiber?

We raise our own Angora goats for their luxurious mohair right on our ranch in Idaho. We source additional mohair from select ethical farms in the USA.

Our merino is 21-micron wool sourced from the mountain west.

All of our fiber is raised in the USA. We do not use imported fibers.

Where are your products made?

Caprine is proudly made in the USA. We partner with family mills and have our hand in every step of the supply chain from beginning to end. Read more about how we are responsibly made here.

What does "Caprine" mean?

Caprine (kuh-preen) is the scientific name for goats.

Since we raise angora goats for mohair, this was the perfect brand name! Our horn inspired logo honors the unique beauty of the Angora goat.
