Dear friends,
We’ve been under the PNW atmospheric river for weeks now, and I’ll admit I’ve had my fill of rain and mud. Thankfully, we aren’t dealing with flooding like so many in Washington and western Montana, but it is strange to look out the window and see ponds forming in our horse paddock.
On Saturday, we headed into the forest to find our Christmas tree. What’s usually a snowy winter wonderland felt more like a green, wet, primeval forest. Still, it was lovely, and we even discovered an old logging road and a few paths that will be fun to explore on horseback when things dry out.
I hope your Christmas shopping is coming along. I still have one last gift to pick up at a little shop in town. I love supporting local businesses. They work so hard and are so often overlooked in favor of big-box stores and mega e-commerce sites. There’s something special about walking in and hearing the Christmas music and running into friends you know.
Last Friday brought a bright spot to Caprine: Elliot Cole Home celebrated their grand opening in Sandpoint, Idaho. ECH is the retail arm of a local interior design firm, and they’ve created the most beautiful showroom. Our throws have their own dedicated space there. They even featured us on their website, which feels incredibly special.
Now it’s time to get back to packing orders! You’ve been busy shoppers, and I’m deeply thankful for each and every one of you. Our socks and throws truly do make wonderful gifts. It means the world to know they’re heading into your homes this season.
As Christmas draws near, I’m reminded how much warmth comes from choosing thoughtfully - whether that’s shopping local, supporting small makers, or surrounding ourselves with things made with care. Every Caprine sock and throw carries a bit of this place, this season, and this way of life.
Thank you for choosing small, for choosing quality, and for being part of our story.
