Dear friends,
Welcome to the Red Falcon Ranch and Caprine community - a place where you’ll find joy, laughter, encouragement, honest trials, and the kind of stories that leave you feeling just a little more hopeful.
So many of you have joined us in the past few weeks that it feels like the right time to reintroduce ourselves and share what we do.
Red Falcon Ranch is our home in very far north Idaho.
Tucked into a quiet mountain valley, it’s peaceful here. Unhurried.
The kind of place where you can hear the wind move through the pasture and feel the rhythm of the seasons.
This is where we raise our Angora goats for their beautiful mohair fiber.
And then there are the other personalities you may already know.
Boots, our tuxedo cat, who is anything but ordinary and keeps us all laughing with his antics.
And sweet Jasmine, who simply knows things like which animal isn’t feeling well, who needs comfort, and exactly when to show up. She and Olaf are the best of friends.
Caprine is the brand under which we share our mohair with you.
We create soft, comfortable socks and throws using the fiber grown right here on our ranch.
We focus on natural colors, sustainability, and intentional small-batch production.
Those words are often overused in today’s marketplace. But for us, they aren’t marketing language, they are simply how we live.
We love this land. We love our animals. And we do everything we can to steward both responsibly and keep our footprint small.
As for the people behind it all…
I am the CEO - Chief Everything Officer.
I wear many hats including managing our supply chain, tracking inventory, and packing your orders.
And when it comes to our socks and throws, the process begins long before a finished product arrives at our door.
I don’t simply ask a knitter to “make a sock” and put our brand on it.
Caprine starts with raw mohair. We ship it to the East Coast, where it is carefully washed, blended with fine wool, spun into yarn, and then either knitted into socks or woven into throws.
I work closely with the spinners, knitters, and weavers at every stage to ensure the final product reflects the quality we stand for.
My daughters, Rachel and Sarah, make this a true family endeavor.
Rachel graduated from the University of Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Resources and double minors in Rangeland Ecology and French.
She runs the ranch side of our operation. She manages daily animal care, does all of the shearing, and is actively improving our pastures for long-term sustainability.
She understands color genetics, manages our breeding program, runs the ranch social media, and yes, does most of our modeling.
Sarah also graduated from the same university with a bachelor's degree in business, emphasizing entrepreneurship and small business management.
She built and maintains our website, created our newsletter systems, and manages the technical side of Caprine.
She is our strategist and idea generator. Sarah is always thinking creatively and looking ahead.
She also handles most of our photography and runs the Caprine social media.
And then there’s my husband, Todd. A marine turned software engineer who helps us build fences, maintain the barn, and keep everything running. We like to say he “fixes stuff and knows things.”
That, in a nutshell, is who we are and what we do.
Thank you for being here.
For laughing with us, grieving with us, celebrating the milestones, and caring about this little corner of the world.
Whether you’ve been with us for years or just joined recently, you are part of this story now.
We appreciate you more than you know.
Much love from all of us two-legged and four-legged alike,
Angela
