Dear Friends,
This week, I have two things on my mind: hay and socks. Let’s start with the hay.
Because we raise Angora goats, and because their mohair becomes the socks and throws you love, I’m very particular about what we feed them.
I can’t buy hay with seeds, weeds, or alfalfa mixed in; all of that ends up tangled in the fleece and makes a mess of the fiber.
And since mohair quality starts long before shearing, I also only buy tested hay.
I learned the hard way that hay can look beautiful and still have very little nutritional value.
Finding a grower who produces clean grass hay and tests it isn’t easy, but I finally found one.
So this week is all about watching the weather, timing the delivery just right, and getting it unloaded smoothly.
The other thing I’ve been thinking about a lot is socks.
Socks aren’t glamorous. They don’t announce themselves like a hat or a belt. You don’t really see them.
But imagine slipping your foot into a shoe with no socks at all - ouch!
Socks are the quiet barrier between your feet and the world.
They’re the unsung heroes of comfort, the foundation we stand on all day long.
Most of us don’t think much about our socks unless something is wrong.
Cotton traps moisture and leaves feet damp.
Acrylic and polyester feel like wrapping your foot in plastic.
An itchy sock reminds you of itself all day long.
But a truly comfortable sock? You barely notice it — everything just feels better.
My daughter, Sarah, sells our socks. She built our website, takes our photos, and runs our social media.
Her job is to tell the world: We’re here, and we make incredibly comfortable socks you can wear every day.
This week, she’s working on new ways to tell that story and I thought you might help us.
If you’re willing, I’d love for you to reply to this letter and tell me how you first heard about Caprine and what made you buy a pair of socks.
Your stories matter more than you know, and they help us keep doing this work the right way.
We’re grateful you’re here with us, part of a slower, more thoughtful way of living. One shaped by shared moments, mindful choices, and intention woven into everyday life.
Angela
