How We Grow the Softest Colorful Mohair with Angora Goats

How We Grow the Softest Colorful Mohair with Angora Goats

Dear friends,

Our beautiful fall has slipped quietly into typical PNW weather - cold, misty, and full of cozy comforts. The kitchen stays busy with squash soup simmering on the stove, warm cookies, and fresh sourdough bread.

All our breeding pairs are matched, and we’re already dreaming of spring kids. Rachel carefully pairs each doe and buck to keep improving our herd with softer mohair, richer color, and correct bodies.

The barn is stacked high with straw to keep everyone warm and dry. I’m still searching for one last perfect load of hay with no seed heads and no weeds. Seeds and weeds are the bane of mohair… and of the mills that spin it.

Now, I’m tucked in my office wearing my favorite everyday Caprine socks (yes, I really wear them daily!).

This weekend’s orders went out with the mail, and I want to send a heartfelt thank-you to all the early Christmas shoppers. Your support means more than you know - to us and to the goats who make it all possible.

Each pair of socks and every throw carries a piece of this life - the goats in the pastures, the rhythm of the seasons, and the quiet joy of making something honest and lasting.

When you choose Caprine, you’re joining a story of small-batch craftsmanship, sustainable living, and a community that believes in quality made close to home.
