Dear friends,
I grew up in the 70s — the era of love, peace, and the back-to-nature movement. As a little girl, I adored the long hair, the beads, the bell-bottom jeans, and of course, John Denver. Yes, the 70s were a groovy time to be a little girl!
Somewhere in those childhood memories is the vision of a woman spinning yarn. I can’t quite place where or when I saw her, but I remember thinking: That is so cool. Someday, I’m going to do that.
And at last, the dream began with Angora goats and their beautiful mohair. Then came my first spinning wheel. I was so excited! My dear friend Margaret taught me how to spin those silky mohair locks into the loveliest yarn.
I still love the sound of the wheel whirring, the feel of mohair slipping through my fingers, and the joy of watching it twist into yarn. Yarn I made! A childhood dream fulfilled and a timeless tradition carried forward.
Now, I weave that soft mohair yarn into rugs while John Denver plays in the background. The desire to live in harmony with nature is still my heartbeat. Love and peace remain my mantra.
That same love for all things natural is woven into our natural-colored mohair throws and socks. To me, there’s nothing better than wearing or wrapping up in something so beautifully connected to the earth, made with care and intention.
Angela
